Minutes of the Meeting of Shenandoah Valley Gem and Mineral Society
Meeting date: December 11, 2023
We had a wonderful dinner at our meeting on December 11. 21 members and guests enjoyed a sumptuous array of delicious food. Thanks to everyone who brought food and helped set-up and clean up. The gift exchange was very enjoyable and exciting.
Michael Papst, our president, put forth this motion: "I propose that Deborah Grimm be designated as a signatory to our account at Dupont Community Credit Union as a co-treasurer with Scott Gregory." It was seconded by Jilly Weigel. The club voted unanimously to accept the motion.
Jack Glenn gave an update about the rock shop. He has ordered some new equipment that is being shipped and will arrive in the near future. It will be paid for from some of the proceeds from our annual show.
Debbie Grimm read a note from Lori Herrick thanking us for setting up and running the auctions. She also included a check for our share of the first sale of minerals and items from the Michael Herrick auction. Proceeds from the second auction have not yet been determined. We will have a third auction sometime in the spring.
Michael P. asked if anyone wanted to present a program on January 8. He will do a virtual trip to Greece if there are no other suggestions.
